My people have no similar stories that I can recall. I don't know if the stories never existed, or weren't recorded, though.
[ He has to wonder now. ]
That's no surprise, I guess, given that Thorne is responsible for nearly destroying them completely. And they do have a habit of keeping all that they know out of the public libraries...
Hmm. Some of the most common was that they had their own realm called Faerie or Underhill and they were known to steal humans away to keep there. There were a lot of old superstitions on how to ward off their attention or to protect yourself from their trickery, ranging from four-leaf clovers to wearing iron. There were warnings never to eat or drink anything from a Fey, and to only accept gifts cautiously. But equally, be careful to never give offense to them, either.
They were known for their mischief and some lore said they were incapable of lying, but they knew how to manipulate the truth in such a way that it barely mattered. They were supposedly powerful beings of pure magic with ties to nature and were separated or ruled by different Courts, although the details of those were pretty varied, if I recall.
Which basically comes down to... politics as usual, I suppose. With an extra helping of be wary of everything.
[ She'd heard a little about that, even though it was before her time. ]
But you're not wrong. Having a backup plan in place before we go is probably wise. Not to mention, we're not even certain the danger would come from the Fey, or someone just taking advantage of the distraction.
Of course they did. I wouldn't put it past them to have instigated the entire thing themselves just for the opportunity to do so.
Well, you're already further in your costume plans than I am, then. The only part I have so far is a mask. Bird, with teal and orange feathers. Everything else is yet to be determined.

I know that there is meant to be a game of hidden identities with this masquerade, but I think it would be best if some of us know who is who.
The last time there was an invitation to a party in this region, someone used it as a chance to attack and cause chaos.

But men have an easier time with dressing up, I guess.
