"Oh god. Not that. Anything but that." Her tone is dry and she slides her glass over for a refill. "I thought you said Steve filled you in on the details? I know pretty much what he knows. We all discussed what to do with each other before we made out decision."
She hesitates, then inclines her head. "Although I was a little surprised when he came to the same conclusion as I had."
Bucky grins at her and re-fills her glass. He supposes that's true, though Natasha thinks in ways Steve doesn't. Which is why, yeah, he was a little surprised too. Steve could have gone either way.
"I guess it's not the choice Captain America would have made. It's not clean." There's no judgement in the statement. He just doesn't know how else to put it. He sinks a little in his chair and cards his fingers through his hair. "It's solid strategy. Dropping bombs to win wars..." The last bit is almost too low to hear, spoken against the rim of his glass before he knocks the whole thing back.
She comes around the counter at that, stepping up behind him where he's slouched on his chair, wrapping her arms about his shoulders as she leans against him.
"War is never clean," she murmurs quietly against his hair, giving him a light squeeze. "Not back home. Not here."
"Maybe." The answer comes with a quirk of her lips as she leans her cheek against the side of his head, soaking up his warmth, the solid strength of him. Something she really needs right now.

And anyway, this isn't about him. He reaches up to close his hand around her wrist, squeezing gently.
"Ain't that the truth. So, you ever gonna believe me when I say you're not a bad person, for what you did?"
Re: [September 12th | Action]
"It helps, just to hear that you think it."

"Then I'll tell you all the time. Who you are now matters."
